What The Fuck Is Smell The Glove?

Smell The Glove is NYC's raddest hair metal, hard rock and glam punk party! STG is organized by Brooklyn Ski Club and Nickels & Dimes, it goes down once a month at St. Jerome's in the Lower East Side. This is the official blog to find out details about the next party.

The story of Smell The Glove (as told by Matt K):
Back in March of 2010, I was at some swanky party at Ella. I got there early and was waiting for some friends to show up. The drinks were crazy fucking expensive, so after one $8 beer I got the fuck out of there and headed to Welcome To The Johnson's to throw back a few PBRs and kill some time.

I was sitting at the chair with the wooden arms by the door, sipping a beer and thinking about how rad it would be to have a party at the Johnson's. Unfortunately, that joint isn't really cut out for a dance party so I started thinking of similar spots that might work. The first place I could think of was St. Jerome's. At the very moment Jerome's popped into my head Motley Crue was blasting on the jukebox.

That's it! A fucking hair metal party at St. Jerome's, complete with go-go's, fog machine and killer DJs. I always wanted to host a metal party but the heavy shit fucking scares people, especially chicks. But what about the not so heavy metal? I mean, even people that don't listen to hair metal and hard rock on the regular still grew up with that shit. Every hipster, rocker, punk and even prep knows the words to "Dr. Feelgood," "Cherry Pie" and "Pour Some Sugar On Me."

I called up my homeboy Carlos because I knew he was buddies with Luc, who manages Jerome's. I ran the idea by him and he fucking loved it. Carlos gave Luc a shout and he thought it sounded rad too so we got a date for the first one.

Then Carlos and myself just started throwing out crazy ideas like "Let's be the official listening party for the new Scorpions album" and "Let's get NoiseCreep (one of the biggest metal blogs on Earth) involved." Well, to our surprise, damn near every ridiculous idea we had came to fruition. Smell The Glove was born, and it's been getting bigger and badder every month since!
